Al Forno

We had heard good things about the takeaway food so thought we would give it a try but we were very disappointed. The chicken parmigiana was small, very dry and tuff and the chips were soggy. The seafood pasta with marinara sauce was light on seafood and heavy on the pasta. Out of 3 serves 2 had 1 large prawn and the other serve just had the prawn head and no meat. The sauce was overcooked and too thick. Very disappointed considering the price.

Edit: food has dropped off with new owners. Quality and portion size have definitely fallen away. We have had takeaway 3 times since new owners. It’s not bad food just not the looked- forward to meal it used to be. Previous post: Al Forno is always our go to for great takeaway. Amazing pizza and pasta. We had the Chicken and chorizo penne with chill jam (amazing!) and the pizza of the month and a margarita. Never disappointed.

I would love to give 5-star to this restaurant after reading the reviews, but we had an unpleasant experience with takeaway. We head there to get our takeaway pasta before our Ironman race and they told us it would take about 40 minutes. We had no alternative and after reading the reviews, we decided that it's worth waiting. They told us they will let us know when it's ready for pick up. After an hour, we decided to go back and check. Unfortunately they hadn't prepared it, they kindly apologized and asked us to wait 10 mins. We waited another 20 mins and after 1 hour 20 minutes we managed to get our 2 pastas. We stayed positive by thinking it must be good, let's not get stressed. We finally had our dinner around 9pm (we had to wake up at 3am for the race) and to be honest pasta wasn't good. Maybe it's better in the restaurant so don't want to rate the food itself but overall we had a very bad experience with our order. This also messed up our digestion before the race in the morning because 6 hours wasn't enough for the digesting the food. I can understand their busy kitchen with the demand but if that's the case, they should not promise to deliver simple takeaway pasta especially for the people who explicitly tell them it's critical to get the food on time.

Antipasto plate not available as one chef down… frozen croquettes, all food had a sweet taste, pasta overcooked, lasagne sauce with corn??? Never ever seen or tasted something like that. We waited 45 minutes for the antipasto to come out, at the end they served everything at the same time… we really left disappointed and most of our food left into the plates. Shame because we come to Busselton every year and we always had dinner at al forno!
